Ephesians 5:11-16 comments

11  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16  Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Note that Paul has first laid the groundwork for walking in God’s standards before you go pointing at someone else of whom you disapprove. It is not the other way around. You have a lot of nerve pointing out the sins of others when you aren’t addressing your own.

Romans 13:11 ¶  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering[sleeping around] and wantonness [flirtatious, immoral behavior], not in strife and envying. 14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Christ shines a light on all that is wicked. God separated light from darkness in the very beginning.

John 3:14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

We are to walk carefully, deliberately trying to avoid the sin that so naturally besets human flesh. We are to devote our physical affections to our spouse, and no one else. Leave the confusion to the unbelieving world which willfully sees no light from Christ.

“Redeeming the time,” tells us to use our time on earth carefully. Remember that eternity is a long time. We are to use our time here carefully as we walk carefully because we live in evil times. We see misery and suffering all around us caused by sexual behavior that goes against what God has ordained in a monogamous lifelong commitment. If they aren’t engaged in physical adultery the world is living it out through others on the screen or in print. Exploitation, abuse, and fraud are mankind’s most common activities after violence.
