1John
3:23 ¶ And this is his commandment, That
we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as
he gave us commandment. 24 And he that
keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know
that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Here are
fundamentals of the Christian faith, what it means to be a Christian. We
believe on the name of Christ and we love our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Keeping the commandments of Christ, the Word of God, show that we have His
Spirit, His very mind, inside of us.
We believe
Jesus was who He said He was.
John
3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the
wrath of God abideth on him.
John
14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way,
the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my
Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the
Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus
saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known
me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou
then, Shew us the Father?
When we
believe in Him the Spirit, the very mind of God, indwells us.
John
14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him,
If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we
will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Romans
8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in
the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have
not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And there
are outward proofs, evidence that we have that very mind of God indwelling us.
Galatians
5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is
no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s
have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
John
13:34 A new commandment I give unto you,
That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my
disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Matthew
22:35 Then one of them, which was a
lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the
law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt
love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy mind. 38 This is the first and great
commandment. 39 And the second is like
unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets.
