Revelation 4:8-11 comments: for His pleasure

8 ¶  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. 9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, 10  The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Notice the similarity between these beasts and, not only the cherubims, but the seraphims of Isaiah, in that they each have six wings.

Isaiah 6:2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Ezekiel reported in his vision that he saw only four wings on the cherubims. Are they the same thing or different creatures for a different function? Information for this in the Bible is not sufficient for us to draw a conclusion.

Ezekiel 1:6  And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

The beasts in heaven say constantly, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. The 24 elders fall down before the throne and cast their crowns, symbolizing judgment and authority, before God.  The animal kingdom praises God THEN the persons who represent His people praise Him. There is something of interest there to consider. Here we see how our Creator is to be praised and why, in this context, and why all things, including ourselves, were created, for his pleasure.

This is a very difficult thing to accept and to understand, that we were created for God’s pleasure. It is His pleasure to create. It is His pleasure to bring us into His kingdom.

Luke 12: 31  But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32  Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

To resurrect the believer physically, to redeem us by His blood and to forgive us…

Romans 8:23  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Ephesians 1:3 ¶  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

to work in the believer and through him or her…

Philippians 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Understanding why you were created may be a blow to your huge ego but makes a lot of events in your life that were not particularly happy ones more understandable.
