What Hath God Wrought: The Transformation of America, 1815-1848 by Daniel Walker Howe.
This Pulitzer Prize winner for history is simply too long and covers too many events to hold your interest. It is, however, an excellent resource for information on that era. It particularly deals with information on the religious scene in America of that time in a very solid and responsible manner. A good reference source but not a great read.
