The Cambridge History of the Bible, Volume 2, The West from The Fathers to The Reformation, edited by G.W.H. Lampe, Ely Professor of Divinity in the University of Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 1969. This is an excellent work full of information for the student of Bible history but, as with every scholarly work, one must be able to separate facts and evidence from conclusions, which are often the mere opinion of the editor, in this case, or the author.
