Latest Reading

Jefferson and the Ordeal of Liberty by Dumas Malone, Little, Brown, and Company, 1962. This is an interested but dry work on Jefferson's career as Secretary of State under Washington and then as Vice President under Adams. If anything it underscores what a fascist Alexander Hamilton was and it is the end of the Jeffersonian Republic and the fulfillment of Hamilton's dreams that resulted from the Civil War. Jefferson represents the Libertarian ideal while Hamilton represents the dictatorship of the Federal Government we have today. This is an important book, I believe, though.
