Luke 1:57 ¶ Now Elisabeth’s
full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 And her neighbours and her cousins
heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.
59 And it came to pass, that on the
eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias,
after the name of his father. 60 And his
mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. 61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy
kindred that is called by this name. 62
And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. 63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote,
saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all. 64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his
tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God. 65 And fear came on all that dwelt round about
them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country
of Judaea. 66 And all they that heard them
laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this
be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.
Zacharias can finally
speak again. Notice when God looses someone’s tongue they can speak even if
they are an animal.
Mark 7:32 And they bring
unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they
beseech him to put his hand upon him. 33
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his
ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; 34
And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that
is, Be opened. 35 And straightway his
ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
Numbers 22:28 And the LORD
opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me
these three times?
The verse in Numbers
suggests that animals do have thoughts and memory. They just don’t have speech
as we do. We know the animal prototypes in Heaven, the Cherubim or Living
Creatures, speak. See Ezekiel 10 and;
Revelation 5:14a And the
four beasts said, Amen...
The hand of the Lord was with John the
Baptist. So, it was with Elijah.
1Kings 18:46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up
his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
All things and all
events are in His hand and God has control over every aspect of reality, no
matter how unpleasant or painful, or how joyous or beneficial.
For verse 63 a writing table was a book or leaf of a
book or stone on which you would write or engrave.
Exodus 24:12 And the LORD
said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give
thee tables of stone, and a law,
and commandments which I have written;
that thou mayest teach them.
Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write
it before them in a table, and
note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
Jeremiah 17:1 The sin of
Judah is written with a pen of
iron, and with the point of a
diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the
horns of your altars;
As Thomas’ 1587 Latin
and English dictionary defined it; “a table, a board, a plank, a book or
register for memory of things, a paper journal, a writing table…”
