Genesis 3:20 comments: Eve, the mother of all humans

3:20 ¶  And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
Acts 17:26  And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
All human beings are descended from Eve. Modern science, even in its limited perspective of evidence and opinion that overthrows one set of theories after another in their attempts to explain history without admitting to God, understands that there is one human woman who is the mother of all people alive today. They call her “Mitochondrial Eve.”
All human beings are related, cousins, in a manner of speaking. So the New Guinea hill person and the gaucho-cattle ranch worker in Argentina and Uruguay, the Bantu in Africa, and the proudest American are all distant cousins.
Adam had not lost the right to name the world around him. He gave names to all creatures and here he gave a name to his wife. This has been a source of confusion in modern times. Some skeptics take the classifications of animals made up after the Bible was put to paper as a reason to say the Bible is in error. They read back their own naming of creatures back into the Bible and then object to God’s classifications.
