Ephesians 2:2 comments: the prince of the power of the air

2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Before we were saved we followed the world and the prince of this world, the prince of the power of the air, the Devil, Satan, Lucifer. This is the very spirit that right now works in the unsaved person, persons, and the world.

The world equals the people that inhabit the physical earth and their systems; the world of politics, the world of sports, the world of entertainment, the world of education, etc. etc. Do you see this definition of the world in the following verse by the phrasing?

Revelation 3:10  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

You could not love God if you loved the world.

1John 2:15  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John has a lot to say about the world.

Satan is the god of this world.

2Corinthians 4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

John 12:31  Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

John 14:30  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

John 16:11  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The world loves wisdom and human knowledge of worldly things and attitudes.

Col ossians2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

1Timothy 6:20  O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

Philosophy, tradition, and false science are the things of the world that led us all before we were saved. God help us if they are still our guide. Humanism, a thirst for wealth and power, and demonic pseudoscience that declares we are nothing more than a higher animal are the world’s underpinnings.

However, we have been saved and have someone to teach us.

John 16:7 ¶  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9  Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
